Top Legitmate Home Direct Sales Opportunites

In my experience with direct sales in both working the field and researching, I have come across some of the top direct sales companies, and I will list ten of those for you shortly.  Ultimately, the company you decide to go with depends largely on where your interest lies.  You have to love what you do and love your product, otherwise you won't be successful.  You must be self motivated and self disciplined to succeed in working from home in direct sales.  Also, you must be patient because success does not come overnight, and most likely you will be incurring some expenses up front to invest in and grow your business.  With that being said, here are a few of the top direct sales opportunities.

2. Avon - The worlds largest direct seller and leading beauty company.  
3. Thirty One - Totes, purses, thermals and organizational items.  Thirty One is a Christian based company.
4. Pampered Chef - The Pampered Chef is a premier direct seller of high quality kitchen tools, providing expert cooking tips and creating simple recipes.
5. Scentsy - Scentsy Inc. is a candle warmer company founded in 2004, and based in Meridian Idaho. The company offers various types of candle warmers, or wick-less candles.
6. Mary Kay - Cosmetics
7. Send Out Cards - Greeting card and gift company.
8. Tastefully Simple - Convenient, easy-to-prepare foods designed to help people spend less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying their lives. 
9. PartyLite - PartyLite is the world's largest direct seller of candles, candle holders and home accessories.
10. Herbalife - A global nutrition company that helps people pursue a healthy active lifestyle. Providing nutrition, weight management and personal care.

WAH: Need a place to start?

Want to work from home, but not sure where to start?  Need some ideas?  Well good news!  I have listed some great places to start!  The websites I have listed below are all legitimate businesses and great places to start.  And, I have either researched or directly heard of these businesses.  I am currently a personal affiliate with Monet Minerals and Country Charms Scents and I also work part-time as a *Promotional Event Specialist.  These opportunities work great for me.  You just need to find the right opportunity that works for you.   

In the past, I have also done work as a Virtual Assistant and was an Avon Representative, Beauti Control Cosmetics Consultant and Teaporia Consultant as well.  What am I getting at?  The simple fact that it is not as difficult as you might think and I am here to say, "you can do it too"!  It just takes a little time, patience and effort to get started and establish yourself.  These work great whether you are looking for a part-time opportunity, full-time or even if you are just looking for a hobby or a little extra spending money.  There are tons of options out there it's only a matter of finding them.  But I'm making it easy for you by giving you someplace to start!  A headstart if you will.  So remember time, patience and effort are needed.  With that being said, it's time to become your own boss, happy hunting!

Not just WAHMS, but WAHHS as well

Work-at-Home-Moms or as you likely know them WAHMS are the top well known types of people who work from home, however there are more than just WAHMS out there. There are simply just the WAH (work-at-home) people, also SAHMS (stay-at-home-moms), CSAHM (christian-stay-at-home-moms and CWAHM (christian-work-at-home-moms), but what I'm getting at is those of us who work at home who are not home just because were mommies. We may be WAH (working-at-home) simply because we choose to or perhaps because we have to for other reasons besides being a mommy, such as being disabled. What ever the case, everywhere I looked, everywhere I turned WAHMS, moms and more moms, along with a great deal of mommy talk and such. And that's perfectly fine, great as a matter of fact, but I am just simply a WAHH (work-at-home-housewife). No mommy that needs to work from home. Although I do have a son, he is very much a grown man and living on his own. And in addition, I have two young step-children, however they live with their mother full-time, except for visitation with their dad, so again, no mommy here, I'm just simply a woman, as well as a housewife who works-from-home part-time.



In my searches for WAH information, the only website I came across that was similar was WAHW (work-at-home-women), but still most sites seemed to be highly geared towards WAHMS, so I decided to create WAHH for those of us who are not mommies, but simply WAH. Being a woman, who was also a housewife, but not a mommy, I felt we needed our own category and place to go to that was related, but without all the "mommy talk" so-to-speak. Hence the birth of my blogspot Work-at-Home-Housewives. You will find much the same information here with the exception that WAHH is not driven by the "mommy" factor.



But still, when it comes to the top legitimate, informative WAH sites, I would go with WAHM.com They have tons of great information, tips, articles, ideas, job postings, etc., and in addition have been around for quite some time now. And when looking for a legitmate WAH job, WAHM.com is the first website I visit. You can just go to their website, WAHM.com click on WAH jobs and simply plug your information into their search box to find WAH jobs near you.

Want to legitmately work on your own?

Looking not necessarily to work-from-home, but rather work on-your-own? Then working as an independent contractor might be a great place to start. There are many independent opportunites out there in areas such as sales and travel, but one in particular is at the top of my list and works great for me. You can choose to work part-time, sporadically to make extra income or even full-time. Working as an independent contractor you can accept as many jobs as you like or as little as you like. It's totally up to you as to how many jobs you complete, allowing you to work a full-time schedule or only work on occasion to bring in extra income. Stay At Home Moms – How to Earn Money From Home Without Sales

One of the most frequently asked questions I see is, “How can I earn money from home without selling?”

When I ask exactly what it is that the person doesn’t want to do, the answer is almost always the same. I’m told, “I don’t want to bother my family and friends.”

Think of a local restaurant you enjoy. Do you think the owner bothered their family and friends to build the business?

Next, think of a local real estate office in town. Do you believe the realtors in those offices bothered their family and friends to build their businesses?

Finally, think of a boutique or small independently owned retail business in your town. Again ask yourself, do you believe the store owner/s bothered family and friends to build their business?

If you have looked into working at home and you’ve found the many direct sales opportunities available out there, have you ever asked, “How would I market this?” If you’re told that you’ll make a list of family and friends, I say move on. Thank the person for their time and move on.

There are several problems with making a list of family and friends:

1. These are not people who have expressed an interest in what you’d be offering.
2. There is a risk of damaged relationships from you asking and from them saying no.
3. Once you’ve gone through your family and friends, then what?

The only positive of trying to sell to family and friends is that you already know the person and you’re not speaking with a stranger.

If you still don’t want to get involved in sales, then it’s time to polish up your resume and begin looking for a telecommute position.

These positions do exist, but they are rare and they are given to those who are completely qualified for the position offered.

One of the most frequently asked questions by the employer is, “Why do you want to work at home?” Remember, the employer is considering paying you a wage. The employer does not want to know that you have children at home, a sick relative you care for etc. They want to know that you will be working for the money they are going to be offering you. Have your answer well prepared before the interview.

Answering phones for call centers is one of the most popular telecommute positions. They require a separate phone line and absolute silence: no children and no pets. If you are ever caught with children or pets in the background you’ll lose your job.

Whether you choose sales or find an employer willing to allow you to work at home, don’t say yes until you’ve done enough research to know that a yes answer is the right answer for you.
